After a long search of trying to find my way back to a job in food - I finally found one.
I am joining the team at Fable Food - an Australian based company making meat-substitute products from mushrooms!
As I’ve hinted at in my writing, I knew relatively quickly that working in corporate sustainability wasn’t for me but it took me a long time to figure out what would be the next right move. I knew I wanted to be in the world of food with a focus on the environment, so finding a company that was not only creating interesting products but that also has a mission to reduce our reliance on animal products to help adapt to the changing climate is the perfect place for me.
My role will be focused on sales and business development as I lean into my entrepreneurial spirit and work to get Fable Food on the menu in restaurants and fast casual spots.
If you are interested in learning more about Fable Food, they made an appearance on Season 2 (Episode 2) of Zac Efron’s Netflix show Down to Earth, so you can check them out here.
After I got the job, I felt a sense of accomplishment that I was able to pivot into this role. Yes, I learned about sales building Illuminate but this is specifically a business to business sales role and I have never that done before.
I have come to believe that most things we can imagine, we can do. Some of you might think about this as manifestation or the law of attraction. Even if there is nothing metaphysical about the process - dreaming big and working toward your vision expands your options.
Below I have listed what I see as the 4 steps that led me to this career pivot into what I believe is a dream job for me:
Create a Vision Board
This was essential. It’s hard to find what you are looking for if you don’t have clarity on what you actually want. A vision board helps you visualize specific elements that are important to you.
I printed out copies of my vision board and put them in places I would see everyday.
My vision board was titled Career Alignment and included things like “freedom from 9-5” and “creative expression” This also helped when I would apply to a job that was more of a strict 9-5 I would look back at my board and know it wasn’t what I really wanted. These can be made for anything you are hoping to make happen for yourself. I used Canva to make mine, which I highly recommend.
Career Coach
Sometimes when you are stuck, investing in yourself and working with a professional can help. My friend was working with a coach named Anna Cosic who specifically works with women looking for meaningful careers. I only worked with Anna for 1 month but I felt like she was able to help me organize my thoughts and dreams.
Network
For years now I have been a big networker. I’ve had LinkedIn premium multiple times and I have found the casual coffee/zoom chat to be very helpful and informative. I love to connect with new people and learn about what they do and how they got there. When job hunting, I’ve found people will often take the time to chat with you and you never know where it could lead.
Early on in my search, Aaron from Maplewood Wheelhouse connected me to the CEO of his company Forever Cheese and we had some conversations about the possibility of me joining his team. Though this role didn’t pan out, when I was interviewing with Fable Food months later, I noticed that the person interviewing me had previously worked for twenty years with the Forever Cheese CEO. This was a perfect opportunity and I emailed him to see if he would be willing to put in some good words on my behalf. I truly believe this is part of the reason I got the job - you just never know!
Human Design
This one may or may not be new to you but I have been loosely following Human Design for a couple years now and if you’ve never heard of it before it’s a combination of astrology the I Ching, Kabbalah and Vedic philosophy. Human Design divides personalities into five energy types -Manifestors, Generators, Manifesting Generators, Projectors, and Reflectors - meant to indicate how someone exchanges energy with the world.
You can easily find out your Human Design (if you know your birth time) from sites like Erin Claire Jones or Jovian but in order to really get into the nitty gritty of your personality type and what you are meant to do on this Earth, I recommend a personal reading. I got my reading from Xenia and have come back to the recording again and again as I learn something new about myself every time.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my process! If you are experiencing a period of looking for what’s next, trust that the right thing is out there with time, patience and acceptance.
What I’m Into ✨
I have two weeks off in-between jobs!
I tried to find some cooking classes in person but didn’t see anything interesting so I signed up for a course through Create Academy with Anna Jones, who I admire

Went to King Spa & Sauna in Palisade Park yesterday and wow, what a relaxing experience. They even still sell Groupons for it. We bathed, got an exfoliation scrub, lounged on heat mats, ate lunch including the Korean shaved ice dessert Bingsu and read books - highly recommend!
This Week’s Recipe ✨
Raspberry Pistachio Frozen Yogurt Bark
This recipe is so simple and has already become part of my evening routine.
There are millions of ways to make yogurt bark (think any ice cream topping) so I went with a pistachio/chocolate theme.
I really want my parents to give these a try so Hi Mom! I wrote the recipe out for you ❤️
INGREDIENTS
Quart of Yogurt (I used Whole Milk Greek but anything would work)
Frozen Raspberries
Mini Chocolate chips
Pistachios out of the shell
Honey
INSTRUCTIONS
Take a baking sheet and cover with parchment paper. I made my sheet a little longer than the pan and tucked the ends under the baking sheet so I could spread the yogurt easily
Spread the yogurt using a spoon over the whole baking sheet. I used ¾ of my yogurt tub for my desired thickness
Sprinkle your toppings one at a time. I really enjoyed this part as it felt like painting.
Once my raspberries, chocolate and pistachios were all sprinkled across the pan, I drizzled my honey all over.
Place the entire baking sheets into the freezer for at least 3 hours
Once the yogurt is completely frozen, break it up into chunks and place into a ziplock to store in the freezer.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy these.
